No. 9 Northwestern tops Waldorf
FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf football team entertained No. 9 Northwestern Saturday afternoon for a GPAC contest at Bolstorff Field. Northwestern jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead en route to a 45-7 win.
Northwestern used the backfield duo of Konner McQuillian and Logan Meyer to score on their opening drive. McQuillan caught two passes and had a 12-yard rush. Logan Meyer had two long rushes including a 10-yard touchdown to cap a 7-play, 75-yard drive. Following a blocked punt, McQuillan scored from a yard out to give Northwestern a 14-0 lead.
Northwestern scored through the air on their next possession. Hayden Groos found Austyn Gerard for a 47-yard score early in the second quarter. McQuillan and Meyer each added another score to give Northwestern a 35-0 lead at the break.
Waldorf got on the board late in the third quarter. Louis Williams completed a fourth down pass to Justice Johnson from seven yards out to cap a 7-play, 75-yard drive.
Williams was 16-for-28 in the air for 155 yards. He also rushed for 38 yards. Kadin Abele caught four passes for 42 yards. Luke Beyer made nine tackles.
Waldorf (0-7, 0-6 in GPAC) is at Briar Cliff next Saturday.
