Warriors Fall to #11 Dordt on Homecoming Weekend
FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf University Warriors faced off against the #11 Dordt (IA) Defenders in Forest City on Saturday. Despite a spirited effort, the Warriors were unable to overcome a tough Dordt team, losing with a final score of Dordt 59, Waldorf 7.
Dordt established a strong lead by halftime with a score of 42-0. Despite this deficit, the Warriors showcased resilience in the second half. The highlight for the Warriors came in the third quarter when Angel Ruiz caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Derrick Taylor. This key moment was a display of effective teamwork and execution under pressure.
Throughout the game, additional contributions came from Anthony Tucker, who managed 69 rushing yards, impressively navigating through Dordt's defense. Derrick Taylor's performance, including his touchdown pass, was a strategic play that brought excitement in the second half. On the defensive front, Christian Gerot stood out by achieving six tackles and forcing a fumble, highlighting the team's defensive efforts. Luke Beyer also added six tackles.
Looking forward, the Waldorf Warriors have a bye week next Saturday and will focus on their next challenge against Dakota Wesleyan University scheduled for Saturday, October 25 in Mitchell, South Dakota at 2pm.
