NSAA Announces Postseason Football Honors
BISMARCK, N.D. – The 2022 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Football All-Conference teams were announced Monday afternoon by the conference office. The All-Conference teams and postseason awards were voted by the league coaches.
Waldorf placed one of its players on the 27-man NSAA All-Conference First Team. Senior wide receiver Sam Huntley (Dania, FL/Hallandale HS) was named to the All-Conference Offense First Team.
Huntley averaged 5.5 receptions per game for 53.5 yards per game and averaged 9.7 yards per reception. The receiver finished the season with appearing in 10 games, 535 total yards, and 6 touchdowns. "Sam had an exceptional season and helped our team win games this fall," Head Coach Will Finley stated.
The Warriors placed six athletes on the 27-man NSAA All-Conference Second Team: junior offensive lineman Logan Miller (Madison Lake, MN/Janeswille-Waldorf-Pemberton HS), senior offensive lineman Kade Kloster-Hodak (Mason City, IA/Mason City HS), senior offensive lineman Zachary Throne (Scarville, IA), senior defensive lineman Deqwunn McCobb (Bradenton, FL/Iowa Central CC), senior defensive back MaCoy Yeakel (Kanawha, IA/West Hancock), and senior defensive back Tyler Dennis (Fernley, NV/Carroll College).
In addition to the all-conference first and second teams, the North Star Athletic Association also recognizes four players per conference team with honorable mentions. The Waldorf players earning this distinction were junior quarterback Jordan Cooper (New Caney, TX/New Caney HS), senior wide receiver Malik Adams (Cedar Rapids, IA/John F Kennedy HS), senior linebacker Nico Morasco (Azusa, CA/Northview HS), and senior safety Kasen Handal (Tomball, TX/Sam Houston State).
The NSAA also acknowledges NAIA Champions of Character recognition upon one player per conference team per season. Deqwunn McCobb earned the honor for Waldorf for the second year consecutively.
"Our players are well deserving on these individuals' accomplishments," Finley said. "These are always fun to enjoy after the season."
The Warriors finished their 2022 season with an overall record of 7-4, finishing fourth in the NSAA.
