Football Announces Changes to 2023 Staff
FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf football team announced changes to its coaching staff for the 2023 season. Interim Head Coach Tyler Chapa announced the hirings of offensive passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach Lamont Brown and quarterbacks/punters/kick returners coach Danny Donadio. Chapa also announced the promotion of Ethan Aune to offensive coordinator.
"The hiring process was unique for us because of how late in the summer it was. We didn't have a ton of time, but we knew we wanted to bring in guys that will love our players, be great leaders, and fit in with this community," Chapa stated. "I am confident we have found those guys."
Brown comes to Waldorf from Shelton, Connecticut as a technical recruiter for Butler America Aerospace LLC. Brown was also served as an admissions counselor for Chowan University. He played football and received his bachelor's degree from Morgan State University. Brown also received his master's degree from Louisiana State University in Leadership and Human Resource Development in 2022.
"Coach Brown brings not only coaching experience but Division I playing experience. With that, I believe that he is going to be a great leader and a great teacher on the offensive side of the ball," Chapa said. "Coach Brown is going to be working with our wide receivers. When we were getting to know Coach Brown it was obvious that he is a great offensive mind, and I am excited to see what he brings to our passing game."
Donadio joins the Warrior staff following four and a half years as the offensive coordinator/pass game coordinator at Simi Valley High School. He also coached a year at the College of the Redwoods as assistant offensive coordinator, wide receivers, and special teams assistant. Donadio received his Kinesiology and Exercise Science degree with an emphasis in Teaching and Coaching from Humboldt State University in 2014. He made the First Team All-Academic for football twice in his career.
"Coach Donadio brings a ton of coaching experience to the table. When we were first getting to know him, his energy and enthusiasm for the game of football stood out immediately. He is going to bring a new energy that I think our players and coaches are going to love," Chapa stated. "Coach Donadio is going to be working with our quarterback room. I am excited to see that room grow both on and off the field under his leadership."
Aune will take on the role of offensive coordinator following being the offensive line coach. "Our program is excited to announce that Coach Aune will be taking over the offensive coordinator duties. I am very excited to watch him, and his staff grow with our players over the course of this season," said Chapa. "I am confident in his abilities to run a unit and implement his ideas and philosophies to the offense. Coach Aune brings valuable playing and coaching experience to our program. Coach Aune is smart, energetic, and relationship driven and that is why he is the perfect guy for the job."
The Waldorf football team opens their season on August 26th at home against Briar Cliff at 6pm for Community Night.
